Meet the Farmers

Here are a few of the more than 150 family farmers who are pioneering the organic meat industry with Organic Prairie.

The Rosmann Family

An Organic Prairie pioneer, Ron Rosmann says,  "Our goal is to create the highest quality, safest food possible to eat—and we eat it ourselves. That has been our goal all along."

Eric and Andrea Miehlisch

Turkeys are the sole focus on the Miehlisch farm. Their tillable acreage is rented to a nearby farmer for crops. "We think about diversifying," Andrea says, "but we feel that the animals will suffer from lack of attention at those times of the year when crops need intense focus, too. I grew up on a conventional turkey farm, but the farm right next door to ours was a classic diversified farm with a little bit of everything.

The Frantzen Family

"Eating is a political act," Tom Frantzen says. "Everything my family eats, we want to know where it came from."

The Peters Family

From modest beginnings, Roger and his brother and father have built an impressive, diversified organic farm that includes crops, dairy and beef cows, and chickens.
